Leave It Be
I have to leave people be
When people can’t imagine life without an enemy
See beyond the worst possibility
Concoct dreams beyond the reality
I have to accept
That they’re exactly where they want to be
They are living their actualized dreams
I just have to leave people be
Because sometimes there is no point
Other than the fight
There’s no goal other than the score
That’s fine
Sometimes the struggle is the dream
But that’s not for me
I’m good
America doesn’t seem to have a dream beyond collapse
I support the push back
Hold space for the fallen
And respect the process
Of grieving a broken country
But I don’t need to be here for that
I dream of mutiny in the form of community
Interdependence as the stance of rebellion
Not momentary disruption
But dedicated, intentional connection
Uplifting the people around me
Creating alternatives to these treacherous companies
I’m ready to see creative problem solving
But I respect that people are still processing what the U.S. has always been
Regardless, I’m leaving
